lyrics

Untitled

the air is too burning
my chest too full of sickness
I cough but all I bring up are
platitudes,
a small sound like a mouse under foot.

I thought air was for everyone
a democratic right like voting or
choosing which colour car to like
or which knee to kneel on
or which gun to own
but I am not American
so why do I choke as if I put my own hands
down my own throat
Digging for drugs
Digging for god
are you there because,
miracles perpetrated by a blue eyed Jesus
are not included in equality legislation
check the small print
what is a hate crime anyway?

Hellelujah only seems to go so far
I stopped singing
a long time before I was born

I do not have the lung capaciity.
